Carbon nanofibers are used as structural materials or functional materials due to their special ultra-high performance. In order to give full play to the performance of carbon nanofibers, the surface treatment of carbon nanofibers is particularly critical, and different treatment methods have an impact on the surface structure and performance of carbon nanofibers. The impact is different. Different surface treatment processes should also be adopted for the different use requirements of carbon nanofibers. Let me introduce the surface treatment methods and advantages of nano-carbon fiber materials.

At present, the most widely used methods are mainly the following three methods:

1. The ozonation method. This process is the most widely used, because the process is relatively simple, the equipment cost is relatively low, the processing time is short, but the processing effect is significant. It is currently a better method for continuous surface treatment of nano-carbon fibers. The advantages are that the oxidation reaction speed is fast, the processing time is short, and it can be matched with the nano-carbon fiber production line, the oxidation is gentle, the reaction is uniform, and it is easy to control, so that the interlayer shear strength is greatly improved. This process is suitable for the production of low-cost civilian carbon nanofibers.

2. Anodic electrolytic oxidation method. It is also called electrochemical oxidation method. The method is to use carbon nanofibers as anodes. Only inorganic or organic acids and salts can be used as electrolytes. Alkali is also available. Different types of electrolytes have different oxidation processes and affect the surface treatment of carbon nanofibers. It is worth reminding everyone that the electrolytic surface treatment of nano-carbon fiber can also adopt a hybrid method. The acid electrolyte is used for the first time, and the alkaline electrolyte is used for the second time.

3. Plasma oxidation method. Surface treatment of carbon nanofibers using low-temperature plasma or microwave plasma is also an important process. The characteristic of this process is that the gas-solid reaction is pollution-free, and the treatment time and effect are better. However, the plasma generation requires a vacuum environment, so the equipment is complicated. This method is still in the research and improvement stage, but the treatment effect is satisfactory. .

In addition to the above three nano-carbon fiber surface treatment processes, there are also a variety of treatment methods such as vapor-phase oxidation, electrolytic oxidation, liquid-phase oxidation, electropolymerization, vapor deposition, and surface coating.
